Corporate Membership
"
Corporate" membership is in three grades:
1 Member: This is the sole grade for entry and whilst the primary consideration is the degree of competence shown by examples of work, the factor of experience is also taken into account. The minimum age for membership is 20. Designatory letters are "SAI".
2 Fellow: The award of Fellowship can only be made at the discretion of the Council. Designatory letters are "FSAI".
3 Honorary Fellow: This is a grade conferred on those not necessarily engaged in Illustration but who are deemed to have contributed towards the profession in some exceptional manner. Election is by nomination. Designatory letters are "Hon.FSAI."

Allied Membership: This form of membership is non-corporate and is the equivalent of an "Intermediate" stage of the full qualification. If the corporate application is partially successful, Allied membership will be applied and further examples of work should be submitted at a later date. Advice and guidance in such submissions will be provided by the Society. Allied membership confers entry to the membership list but not the practice list or exhibitions. It does include receipt of all publications, attendance at meetings and help on legal or career matters. Designatory letters are not conferred.
