Illustrator

For over twenty years I have been working as a professional cartoonist and illustrator having my work published in many publications including Punch, The Spectator, Private Eye and Reader’s Digest as well as trade publications. I have always had an interest in architectural illustration and have drawn and painted buildings for my own pleasure as well as having the odd commission here and there. I am keen to make it a greater part of my artistic career and to become better known for it. I am especially keen on highly decorative buildings and I am drawn (no pun intended!) to older buildings that feaure ornate decoration. I usually work in pen and watercolour wash and also coloured pencil but more recently I have been painting in acrylic and oil for more ‘painterly’ approaches to the subject.

In the summer of 2017 I had an exhibiton of my paintings and drawings of my hometown, Newport in south Wales, entitled ‘Newport Old and New’, which showed the variety of architectural styles and the develpoment of the city’s landscape showing the contrast of new buildings set against older ones.  One of my paintings of an old Newport pub was broadcast on BBC’s ONE Show as part of a feature on the famous local poet, WH Davies, in January 2018.
