Stuart campbell studied architecture and design at the Mackintosh School of Architecture; Glasgow School of Art and University of Glasgow, and graduated in 1977.

He has special interest in urban design, conceptual planning, design communication and journalism, and is an enthusiastic artist who considers drawing, painting and photography to be essential tools for the design process.

He was founding editor of ‘RIAS Prospect’, the journal of the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland, in 1978. He remained executive editor from 1978 – 1993, and has contributed to many architectural publications including: Building; Building Design; RIBA Journal, and more recently to ‘RIAS Quarterly’.
