Having spent over 40 years in the world of surveying and over 30 years dealing with historic buildings I retired in 2021 to pursue a career in art (and also training fellow professionals in conservation matters). Over many years I have undertaken drawing and painting, some associated with my work. This has included undertaking scaled measurements and technical drawing. I have had some semi-formal art training and been on various courses. At present I am undertaking a form of atelier course in art, albeit distance learning, which primarily involves work in oils. Much of my work is pencil, or line/ink, but a lot of watercolour and line and wash. In recent years I have also produced works in acrylics and oils. I work in part from sketches on site, but also from photographs. I provide training courses for professionals relating to historic buildings and one of my courses is architectural drawing/art. I run an Art Club once a month and presently have between 20 and 30 attendees; this is where I live In Bishop’s Stortford. I am presently having a website built. I post some of my work on my private Instagram pages (https://www.instagram.com/slob59/) and I have Facebook and LinkedIn pages. I recently obtained a registered trademark for ‘Home Ancestry Art’ with a view to this becoming a specific line of work in future. Home Ancestry Art is where a client commissions an artwork for a specific building, home, etc., or a series of buildings – representing somewhere important to them. I welcome enquiries for commissions for Home Ancestry Art.
