Midland Grand Hotel, St Pancras Station, London, UK 1868
Throughout the building, Scott uses generous amounts of decoration and features that firmly put the Midland Grand in the bracket of Gothic Revival. The building itself is constructed from limestone and red brick from Nottingham and Loughbrough, Scott used an alternating brick and stone quoins around the window arches which makes the front of the building striking. Columns that support arches can be seen featured in prominent parts of the construction and there is heavy decoration throughout with gargoyles and grotesques featuring on the outside frontage as well as inside. The building's roof features dozens of small gabled embedded windows that help to break up a roof that would otherwise be considered monotonous compared to the rest of the building’s decorative features.
