David Peacock MSAI

Illustrator

I started work aged 16 as the Studio Boy to 16 commercial artists in the advertising agency of Allardyce Palmer Ltd—Bateman Artists. Was freelance for many years in Fleet Street designing press ads and as a typographer. Helped out on the local newspaper at Tunbridge Wells and had a weekly editorial illustration and worked for local printers. Published two books on sketches of Brighton and Tun’Wells. Did more than 100 pen and ink drawings for a Watford brewery’s pubs and illustrated most National Trust properties in the South East and West Country for publicity purposes. Sold many hundreds of framed local views here and in Belgium. Worked as a signwriter latterly as I enjoyed lettering. I mainly work with pen and ink and colour wash.
