Robert Kann MSAI

Illustrator

I am an architectural illustrator, and have a business selling my prints (Pitch26 – art of architecture).
I am also a qualified, practicing architect (KANN Architecture).

My illustrations are all made through a combination of hand-drawing on layout paper using fineliner pens in a grade of thicknesses.

The scenes are either true replicas of photographs, or are based on a 3D software model in order to gain a new viewpoint.
Some illustrations are free hand with pencil guidelines, others are set up overlaid on a photograph or print out.

The pen illustration is then scanned, and cleaned up digitally before using photoshop to add the colour and shading.
The shadows are not true shadows and are applied in a series of layers to allow for mass and depth.

I sell prints of my work to the public, and have undertaken many private commissions.
My illustrations have recently been employed by St Marylebone Parish Church, the Port of London Authority, and in the past has been used within Harrods.

As an architect, I employ my illustration skills to client meetings and feasibility drawings.
